Start with individual risk
The physician considers family history, cardiometabolic health, medications, symptoms, patient preferences and established screening recommendations before selecting assessments.
Potential components
Depending on clinical need, care can include lipid evaluation, ApoB or Lp(a) assessment, glucose and blood-pressure review, nutrition and activity counseling, weight-management planning, hormone evaluation and periodic follow-up.
Limits of advanced testing
More testing is not always better. Genomic studies, gut microbiome testing, whole-body imaging or unusual biomarkers may have unclear clinical value in otherwise low-risk people and should not be routine by default.
